“I believe in the power of therapy as a means to heal through pain, but also in exploring greater meaning in one’s life and relationships. While our past experiences can shape us to some degree, they do not take away our choice of how to live today. It is through this discovery that an individual can stop living unconsciously and begin living consciously.”
My goal as a therapist is to create a safe environment for healing and exploration. One in which every client’s unique history and experiences are honored. I do not believe in a one size fits all approach to counseling; each client’s journey has been personal up to this point, therefore the therapeutic approach should be customized accordingly.
Victor Frankl, writer/psychiatrist/Holocaust survivor wrote in his book, Man’s Search For Meaning, “We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken away from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
